Britta Duncan loves to travel. She has traveled the globe and always tries to live like a local wherever she visits. In addition, her captivating photography is also featured throughout Isla Magazine.
Britta’s background is in luxury fashion, and she has worked for top retailers such as Bergdorf Goodman and Barneys New York. She not only loves to travel but is probably the best shopper you know. She is ahead of all the global trends and knows where all the good stores are!
She currently resides in New York City.
Tara knows fashion…her career has taken her from Barneys to Bergdorfs and around the world. She has traveled the globe branding fashion for some amazing companies and designers. From a very young age, Tara has always been ahead of trends and is a trailblazer with her style and passion for all things fashion. To hear and see her, she evokes a knowledge and passion which has been quoted and featured in Women’s Wear Daily, USA Today, and several fashion blogs.
Living this fast-paced, jet-setting lifestyle also meant long grueling hours and a not-so-healthy way of eating. After years of living and working this way, Tara felt exhausted and finally decided it was time to go back to her roots. You see, Tara grew up in a natural and organic household where carob was a treat. She comes from amazing genes where beauty is ageless…her mother and aunts have amazing skin and age graciously. So, feeling the effects of being stuck in the corporate fast-track, she left the industry completely and rediscovered the values that she was raised with…eating fresh, healthy foods, and juicing. Today, Tara swears by juicing and believes it is the best way to maintain healthy, glowing skin.
Leaving the corporate lifestyle behind and coming back to her roots of healthy living, it is no surprise that Tara co-founded Isla Magazine. She has such a sincere passion for health, beauty, and of course, fashion. Her entrepreneurial spirit and desire to live a life designed by her drove her to create what you now see today as Isla Magazine. Tara has a wonderful message of health and fashion, and she is ready to share it with the world.

Currently, she is a freelance fashion designer working from home, engineering affordable jeans for the masses, and is also the founder of Lil’Pear jewelry (www.etsy.com/shop/lilpearjewelry). Angela lives in Wyomissing, Pennsylvania, with her husband Ben and twin daughters, Lily and Pearl. She knew something had to change, but she just didn’t know where to begin. Then in 2005, she became pregnant with her first child. Her quest to provide the baby growing inside her with the healthiest options possible led her to become an expert in organic and holistic living.
Meaghan now has two children who are healthy, happy, and think chicken nuggets are “yucky.” Her husband, Christopher, has changed his eating ways as well…he now prefers kale chips to French fries and is in the best shape of his adult life.
Meaghan is a board-certified holistic health coach and received her training at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition in New York City. She loves practicing yoga and is also a Reiki Level 2 practitioner. Her monthly column is featured in South Carolina Woman Magazine, and her articles have been featured in several online health magazines.

Stacey’s search for a more balanced and holistic life started over 10 years ago when she unrolled her sticky mat for the first time and discovered the joy that is yoga. When she’s not going through a series of sun salutations, she can be found writing at the local coffee shop, experimenting in the kitchen, exploring downtown, wandering off the beaten path, or perusing the aisles of Whole Foods for hours (and hours)…except for Saturdays in the fall, which are devoted to college football.
She is studying at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition to become a certified health coach and is currently accepting new clients! She will complete her certification in December 2012 and will then become a member of the AADP (American Association of Drugless Practitioners).
Stacey currently resides in Charleston, South Carolina (by way of Delaware, New Hampshire, and New York). She is the founder of Piece It Together Wellness.
During my ten-year career in corporate America, my weight yo-yoed up and down within an 80-pound range; I struggled with depression and anxiety and was diagnosed with fibromyalgia and a mild case of Crohn’s disease. Even though I was seeing some of the best doctors on the East Coast and following every recommendation they made, I got no results. I started looking for a better option and that is when I found the Institute for Integrative Nutrition. Today, I am grateful to be living life pain free! My energy levels improve every day and I have lost 30 pounds without dieting. It is an honor and a privilege to help my clients do the same.

Blogger for Antique Girls
Kimberly always had a fascination for the days of yore. From a very young age, everything from being able to sing Judy Garland tunes by heart to watching Back to the Future on repeat (the first one) to scavenging junk car yards with her daddy has influenced her to become the socially and environmentally conscious and history-loving young lady she is today.
Admittedly, it did take her a few years to have a true awakening about the lifestyle she wanted to live. It wasn’t until after graduating college and moving up to Boston in 2008 that she realized a true respect for buying vintage/used, supporting small/local business, and eating and living healthier.
After venturing into a beautiful antique store in Salem, Massachusetts, Kim realized that buying antique or vintage didn’t have to = boring, expensive, or stodgy. In fact, the experience was quite the opposite. Not only was buying antique fun, but it was helping the local economy and the environment.
Needless to say, Kim still finds herself in love with shiny new things. But to her, it’s all the small things that add up to living a better life. Making those small contributions whenever you can will soon become a routine and a lifestyle. She has gone on to co-found Antique Girls to blog vintage living ideas for a modern world.
Since this awakening, Kim has been happily gifting antiques, riding her purple vintage bicycle, eating all-natural/local, becoming slowly addicted to yoga, and recycling like a fiend.
When Kim is not antiquing or blogging, she enjoys moonlighting in acting, giving in to the Asian tourist inside of her (shamelessly photographing everything), ranting about politics, stealing the limelight on a karaoke stage, and working in brand marketing.
She resides in the ’burbs outside of Boston.
Amie’s articles: SUMMERTIME LOBSTER SALAD, ORANGE COCONUT COCOA BREAD WITH HAZELNUT FROSTING
Amie Valpone, HHC, AADP, is a Manhattan-based personal chef, culinary nutritionist, professional recipe developer, and food writer specializing in simple gluten-free “Clean” recipes for the home cook. Amie recently healed herself from six years of chronic pain, exhausting every doctor in the country and Mayo Clinic; she shares her story of how Clean Eating saved her life and inspires you to Clean up your food, too. Amie is the editor-in-chief of The Healthy Apple.
Amie focuses on whole foods and ingredients that are good for you and your body. Through The Healthy Apple, Amie provides balanced, accessible, and engaging information on the most basic components of good health. Amie struggled with chronic leg swelling, stomach problems, and colitis, even venturing out to Mayo Clinic in 2010 to hear there was nothing wrong with her. After spending several years dealing with severe digestive issues, while pursuing a career in marketing and advertising, Amie’s health continued to deteriorate. Amie decided to take her health into her own hands and sought alternative options.
It wasn’t until she began working with an integrative medical doctor that Amie learned she was suffering from heavy metal accumulation and was born without the gene to absorb folate, which is key in detoxification. This made Amie realize that medicine can only do so much—it wasn’t offering her body what it needed to heal. Using acupuncture, yoga, meditation, herbal medicine, and fresh, whole, unprocessed foods, Amie healed and remains 100% symptom free nearly five years later.
Amie is unable to digest gluten, grains, sugar, and oils. The past few years Amie has discovered she is allergic to sulfates and cannot digest packaged foods, therefore she follows a Clean lifestyle filled with lean proteins, health fats, and lots of veggies.
In 2011, she quit her corporate job in order to focus on her consulting business, in which she develops recipes, makes media appearances, and engages consumer groups on behalf of food companies. In addition, Amie is active in many organizations that focus on food, nutrition and health. In addition to The Healthy Apple Culinary Nutrition work, Amie is a food media expert and was previously the culinary nutritionist for the NBA Fit Program. Amie’s experience spans from marketing, branding, and advertising at Ralph Lauren corporate, Vogue magazine and the NBA. Her work as a marketing consultant spans the hotel, spa, restaurant, and FMG sectors—creating menus, developing marketing and PR efforts, and building brand awareness for her clients. She has served as a brand ambassador for many well-known healthy living companies contributing to their websites, attending conferences and food expos across the nation on their behalf. Amie’s insights and advice appears on The Huffington Post, Martha Stewart Radio, The Doctors, YahooShine!, Rodale Institute, WebMD, The Daily Meal, Bing.com and Livestrong.com. Amie is the recipe editor for Williams Sonoma, Love With Food, Foodily, GIG Gluten-Intolerance Group Magazine, Celiac.com, Honest Cooking, the New York Times Best Seller Series Skinny Bitch, Healthy Bitch Daily, as well as the Manhattan Gluten-Free food editor for the Examiner.
Not limiting her focus to companies and brands, Amie works hands-on with individuals and groups as a personal chef, food allergy concierge, and healthy family pantry stylist to guide them through their transition into a healthier lifestyle. Amie works with Whole Foods Market as their gluten-free Manhattan cooking instructor and is a gluten-free industry innovator when it comes to helping clients, the community, and companies live a healthy and happy life. She understands how difficult it can be to find time in our hectic lives to create a home-cooked, nutritious meal, but she is here to show you how easy it can be. Struggling with lactose and gluten intolerance from a young age, Amie’s recipes cater to the dairy- and gluten-free lifestyle, without sacrificing taste.
Amie believes in everything in moderation. Never using the word “diet,” she stands by the truth that “each of us has control over what we put into our mouths and these choices impact our bodies now and in the future.”
Amie’s passion for healthy, Clean food is contagious and she’s eager to show others that fresh food can keep your taste buds satisfied and yearning for more.
